The Office of Institutional Data Governance is responsible for carrying out the methodical and systematic analysis of institutional data on academic performance and comparing it with other higher education institutions, with the goal of providing ongoing advice to UFMG’s Central Administration regarding institutional data governance.
The specific objectives of the Office are:
I – To verify institutional data related to academic performance, produced by different UFMG entities;
II – To develop conceptual frameworks and standardized formulas for producing data on UFMG’s academic performance;
III – To promote the treatment, disambiguation, interpretation, and analysis of institutional data related to academic performance, from a perspective of interoperability of existing structures;
IV – To critically study and engage with the main inter-university comparisons and rankings;
V – To identify the best practices in academic performance governance implemented by higher education institutions in Brazil and around the world;
VI – To spread the culture of interoperability and evidence-based management among UFMG’s different administrative activities, seeking to improve efficiency in the University’s academic governance;
VII – To discuss and, when applicable, propose adjustments to UFMG’s governance model, aligning it with international academic performance evaluations, based on analyzed data and in comparison with national and international university management experiences.
