In 2022 and 2023, the university was ranked as the best Federal University in the country.<\/p><p>\u2022 The four-year evaluation of graduate programs, conducted in 2022 by Capes (Ministry of Education), revealed that 44.4% of UFMG\u2019s master\u2019s and doctoral programs received grades 6 and 7, nearly three times higher than the national average of 15%. When considering programs rated 5, 68% of UFMG\u2019s graduate programs are classified as excellent.<\/p><p>\u2022 The QS by Subject Ranking (2025 edition) highlights that 63% of UFMG\u2019s fields of knowledge are indexed among the best in the world. Three disciplines\u2014Dentistry, Mining Engineering, and Veterinary Medicine\u2014were ranked among the top 100 globally, while Nursing, Philosophy, and Sociology were listed among the top 200.<\/p><p>\u2022 In the 2023 Folha University Ranking (RUF), UFMG was ranked as the second-best university in the \u201cMarket\u201d dimension, which reflects employers\u2019 perception of the quality of graduates. For the third consecutive time, UFMG was ranked among the top five universities in Brazil in the overall classification, securing the third position among federal universities.<\/p><p>\u2022 Additionally, in 2023, 64 UFMG researchers were listed among the most influential scientists in the world in a ranking produced by Stanford University (USA), based on Scopus database (Elsevier). UFMG was the top-ranked federal university and fourth among all Brazilian higher education institutions (HEIs) in this ranking, trailing only S\u00e3o Paulo\u2019s state universities.<\/p><p>\u2022 In the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities (2025 first edition), which measures the impact of higher education institutions on the web, UFMG ranked third in Brazil and fourth in Latin America. This ranking is produced twice a year by the Cybermetrics Lab, linked to the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).<\/p><p>\u2022 THE Impact Rankings 2025: ranked 301-400, recognizing UFMG\u2019s contributions to the UN\u2019s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Regarding specific SDGs, UFMG was ranked the best university in Brazil for its contributions to SDG 2 (&#8220;Zero Hunger&#8221;), based on indicators of research, teaching, and community outreach.<\/p><p>Other global rankings highlight UFMG\u2019s standing as follows:<\/p><p>\u2022 QS World University Rankings 2026: ranked 595.<\/p><p>\u2022 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2024: ranked 801-1000<\/p><p>\u2022 In the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) 2025, UFMG achieved the 497th position globally, placing it among the top 2.4% of universities worldwide. UFMG currently ranks 6th among Brazilian institutions in the ranking.<\/p><p>\u2022 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2025 (Shanghai Ranking): ranked 501-600<\/p><p>These results reflect UFMG\u2019s ongoing commitment to maintaining its position as a leading institution both nationally and internationally.
