Published by Editora Impressões de Minas, Cartography Principles will be released on April 1st, at Livraria Quixote.

In the book Principles of cartography and other poems, by the writer and professor at UFMG Luis Alberto Brandão, the spaces open to the poetic word, which is also drawing, music score and silence, dance of senses, photographic and architectural image, script of sensations .

Composed of forty-nine poems and nineteen photographs, the book is divided into four parts. [1] The first, “Principles of cartography”, seeks to delimit and surpass vital territories. Poems are mobile maps, verses are series that the gaze can compose in multiple arrangements. [2] In the second part, “Clearings of desire”, the spaces of the body, with their rhythms and arrhythmias, are touched and dreamed of: nudity, memory, rapture and shyness, promises and vertigo, ways of wanting and living. [3] In the third part, “Brasiliana [improbable subtitles]”, photos and poems question the ambivalences of Brazilian culture. Carnival and ruin? Precariousness and joy? Erased pasts? Which mirage concretizes Brazil-space? [4] In the last section, “Like to say”, the focus is the writing space. Verbal and transverbal, the poetic spelling reveals itself as a restless plummet, a horizon of encounters, a field of possibilities and impossibilities. The volume has a preface by Ana Elisa Ribeiro, award-winning writer and researcher of editorial issues. The process of editing the book took place in a special way, through a partnership between the publisher Impressões de Minas and the Faculdade de Letras at UFMG, where Luis Alberto Brandão works as a professor and researcher. The partnership has enabled several collective activities, including undergraduate and graduate courses focused on poetry publishing.

The launch will take place on April 1, Saturday, from 11 am to 2 pm, in Belo Horizonte, at Livraria Quixote, Rua Fernandes Tourinho, 274, Savassi.
