He holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Texas, Austin, a Master&#8217;s in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA \/ SP), and a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUC-RS ). He is a senior member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and an ACM Distinguished Engineer.
