He also was visiting professor at New York University, Univeristy of California at Berkeley, and in Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Portugal and, from 1976 until 2011, in Brazil (several times at PUC-SP, at USP, and at UFMG). Fifty of his publications deal with topics related to intermedial and interarts studies. His book Thornton Wilder und Andr\u00e9 Obey (in German, 1978) deals with 20th-century epic theatre. He is a co-editor of five books, including The Pictured Word (1998), Signs of Change: Transformations of Christian Traditions and their Representation in the Arts, 1000\u20132000 (2004) and The Imaginary: Word and Image \/ L\u2019Imaginaire: texte et image (2015).
