He holds a PhD in Romance Literatures by Passau University, Germany, an MA in Religious Studies and a BA in Literary Studies, both by Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora, Brazil. Parallel to his academic carrier he is also musician and researcher in musicology. Currently he conducts the Brazil Ensemble at King\u2019s College London.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Carvalho research focuses on the fields of Brazilian literature and ethics (he is currently editing a volume on this subject with Routledge), literature and religion, Brazilian music, music and holocaust, as well as in defence and security issues. His main concern is how to solidify Brazilian Studies as a field of research and in this area he is a very active scholar in Europe.
