There are 79.5 million forcibly displaced people in the world according to the latest \u201cGlobal Trends\u201d report by UNHCR, the United Nations Refugee Agency, and of these, more than 77% are in situations of long-term displacement. Eight out of ten refugees are in developing countries and two thirds of the displaced people on the planet come from five countries: Syria, Venezuela, Afghanistan, South Sudan and Myanmar. The webinar sought to address the increase in the number of refugees in the world.<\/p>\n

Speakers:<\/strong> Professor Maria Papadopoulou, from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in Greece, Professor Daniel Morales from the Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Quer\u00e9taro, in Mexico, Professor Marcelo Naputano from the Federal University of Roraima and Jenny Gonz\u00e1lez Mu\u00f1oz, visiting professor at the School of Fine Arts at UFMG.<\/p>\n

The webinar was supported by the Graduate Program in Linguistic Studies and the Cognition, Education, Immigration and Refuge Study Group (GECEIR), coordinated by researcher Luciane Ferreira, who also coordinates the Pr\u00f3-Imigrantes Project (PROEX), both from Faculty of Letters of UFMG.<\/p>\n
