He completed his State Doctorate in 1986, with the thesis Exp\u00e9rience et Connaissance du Travail. He was Professor at the Universit\u00e9 de Provence, Professor Emeritus at the Aix-Marseille Universit\u00e9 and Full Professor at the University of Porto, Portugal. President of the International Society of Ergology and Founder of the methodological device: Multidisciplinary Analysis of Work Situations and the Ergological Perspective. Scientific director of the Ergology department, at the Universit\u00e9 de Provence, created in 1998. Member of the French University Institute, chair of Philosophy and Ergology. Co-founding member of the international network\u00a0\u00a0 Ergology, Work and Development.
