Partindo de uma extensa rede de colaboradores, o programa foi criado em 1997 com o prop\u00f3sito de reunir verbetes com informa\u00e7\u00f5es e an\u00e1lises de todos os povos ind\u00edgenas que habitam o territ\u00f3rio nacional, al\u00e9m de textos, tabelas, gr\u00e1ficos, mapas, listas, fotografias e not\u00edcias sobre a realidade desses povos e seus territ\u00f3rios, este site vem sendo, no decorrer destes anos, repensado e aprimorado por diferentes parceiros e colaboradores do programa Povos Ind\u00edgenas no
