Portuguese as an Additional Language
The Office of International Affairs (Diretoria de Relações Internacionais – DRI) organizes partnerships with undergraduate courses at UFMG to offer regular classes, intensive courses, and online classes for international students to develop proficiency in Portuguese.

English for Academic Purposes
In partnership between DRI and undergraduate courses, UFMG offers classes focused on English proficiency in the academic field centered on international mobility, presentations at conferences, and academic paper writing.

Cenex FALE
Cenex FALE is an Extension Center related to the Faculty of Letters (Faculdade de Letras – FALE), focused on language teaching such as English, Spanish, German, French, Korean, Portuguese as a Foreign Language, and classical languages.

Confucius Institute
Confucius Institute (Instituto Confúcio) is a partnership between UFMG and Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), providing Mandarin classes, cultural activities, scholarships in China, and proficiency tests to the UFMG community.

Celpe-Bras
Celpe-Bras is a test that certifies proficiency in Portuguese as a Foreign Language to the international community, being the only test officially recognized by the Brazilian government. The Celpe-Bras is mandatory for admission to undergraduate courses and postgraduate programs as it is mandatory to validate diplomas of foreign professionals who intend to work in Brazil.
Cenex FALE, an Extension Center at UFMG, is one of the places where the Celpe-Bras test is applied. For more information, please click here.
