UFMG is the first Federal University in Brazil to host an EducationUSA office, which is a network affiliated to the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs – ECA of the US State Department. Around the world, there are more than 425 educational advising centers in 181 countries.

The network aims to promote US higher education to students from around the world by providing accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date information about study opportunities at accredited institutions. EducationUSA also works with the US HEI community to help universities achieve their internationalization goals.

SERVICES:

The EducationUSA office at UFMG seeks to support students interested in studying in the United States by providing the following services:

  • Advising sessions free of charge for the application process in the US at the undergraduate and graduate level;
  • Lectures and events about study opportunities in the US;
  • Scholarship search;
  • Specific programs offered by the EducationUSA network;
  • Pre-departure orientations for selected candidates.

The advising sessions follow the official EducationUSA methodology, which entails 5 steps to study at an American university:

  • Choose programs/institutions of interest;
  • Search for ways to fund your studies in the US;
  • Prepare your application;
  • Apply for a Student visa;Pre-departure orientation.
