CELPE-BRAS
Celpe-Bras is an exam that certifies Portuguese language proficiency for the international community. Developed and granted by the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC), it is administered in Brazil and other countries with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE). It is the only Portuguese as a foreign language proficiency certificate officially recognized by the Brazilian government.
Internationally, it is accepted by companies and educational institutions as proof of Portuguese language competence. In Brazil, it is required by universities for admission to undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as for the validation of diplomas of foreign professionals intending to work in the country.
The Extension Center of the Faculty of Letters at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (CENEX-FALE) is one of the exam's testing centers. For more information about Celpe-Bras applications at UFMG, click here.
