UFMG welcomes international students under Mobility Programs and Cooperation Agreements established with international partner universities . Students can attend up to four academic semesters at the University. At the end of the mobility period, a certificate is issued listing the activities carried out and the subjects taken at UFMG.
International undergraduate and postgraduate students regularly enrolled at a higher education institution abroad can apply for academic mobility at UFMG.

Nomination and application
International students regularly enrolled at an institution outside of Brazil can undertake a short period of study and/or research at UFMG through academic mobility, in accordance with the following steps:
Check the status of the agreement with UFMG at the international office of the university of origin. If the agreement is in force, the university of origin will have to carry out all the procedures for sending and monitoring the documentation listed below. If there is no agreement between the institutions or if it has expired, the student will be able to apply as a “free mover”. In the latter case, the foreign student will be entirely responsible for submitting and monitoring their application.
Once the bilateral agreement has expired, the partner university or the student themselves (in the case of free mobility) must send the following documents to the International Admissions Office within the open nomination and application periods:
- Study Plan - DRI/UFMG model
- Digital copy of passport identification page
- Official and up-to-date academic transcript
- Letter of Intent (in the case of practical, research and/or internship activities)
- Proof of enrollment (ONLY for free mobility)
Once the application has been approved by the course or program at UFMG, the International Admissions Department within the Office of International Affairs will issue the letter of acceptance.
Nomination and application period
For academic mobility in the first semester of the following year:
- Submit nominations and applications between September 1 and October 15
