Language Courses and Proficiency Exams

The Extension Center of the Faculty of Letters (CENEX-FALE) at UFMG offers a variety of language courses and administers proficiency exams every semester.

The Federal University of Minas Gerais, in partnership with Hanban (a body directly linked to the Ministry of Education of China, which supports the promotion of the Chinese language and culture worldwide) and the prestigious Huazhong University of Science and Technology (located in Wuhan), has opened its doors to host the Confucius Institute at UFMG. The IC-UFMG is funded by Hanban/CI Headquarters, with additional support from UFMG and HUST.

Mission

  • Teach the Chinese language;
  • Train Chinese language teachers;
  • Organize Chinese language proficiency exams (HSK);
  • Facilitate academic and cultural communication between UFMG, HUST, and other Chinese higher education institutions.

The German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst – DAAD) is one of the leading international organizations dedicated to promoting academic and scientific exchange between Germany and other countries. In Brazil, DAAD has a strong presence through various offices and lectureships, including a unit in Belo Horizonte, located at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG).

Mission

  • Provide guidance and support to students, researchers, and professors interested in academic opportunities in Germany;
  • Promote scholarships and funding for undergraduate, graduate, and research programs;
  • Strengthen academic cooperation between Brazilian and German institutions.

DAAD in Belo Horizonte organizes lectures, informational events, and institutional collaborations with the Office of International Affairs and other UFMG units, facilitating access to education and research opportunities in Germany. In this way, the organization plays a key role in the internationalization of higher education and scientific development in Brazil.
