Holds BSc, MSc and PhD degrees in Electronic Engineering from the University of São Paulo, Brazil. Currently he is Associate Professor in Computing Architecture at PUC-SP. He is also a Board Member of CGI.br and CEO of the Brazilian Network Information Center (NIC.br).


Worked as the technology director at Agencia Estado (an arm of a major Brazilian Newspaper) and was a board member of ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). Was elected to the Internet Hall of Fame from ISOC (Internet Society) in the category “Global Connector”. Awarded with the prize “Cristina Tavares” from the Brazilian Society of Computer Science and was admitted in the Order of Merit for Communication in an official degree, as a recognition of the relevance of his provided services to Communications. Founded ISOC (Internet Society in Brazil) and collaborated as its Vice-President.
