Full Professor at the Structural Engineering Department at UFMG, and Director of the Institute of Advanced Transdisciplinary Studies (IEAT – UFMG)
Holds Bachelors in Civil Engineering from UFMG, Masters from PUC-Rio, and a PhD in Structural Engineering from Purdue University. Worked as a visiting Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Currently is a Full Professor at the Structural Engineering Department at UFMG, and diretor of the Institute of Advanced Transdisciplinary Studies at the same institution. His main fields of study are computer mechanics and biomechanics. Was one of the Intercontinental Academia 4 idealizer and coordinator. Holds position as Secretary in the Bioengineering Committee from the Brazilian Association of Mechanics Sciences, and was the founder and CEO of the Computational Methods Brazilian Association. Works as an ad hoc reviewer for several national and international research foundations.
