Associate Professor of the Eletric Engineering Department of UFMG. Senior member of IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS).

Frederico G. Guimarães received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil, in 2003, 2004, and 2008 respectively. He developed part of his Ph.D. as a Visiting Student at McGill University, Montreal, QC, Canada, from May 2006 to May 2007. He was an Adjunct Professor with the Department of Computer Science at Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (UFOP), Brazil, from 2008 to 2010, where he coordinated the Graduate Program in Computer Science. He is currently Associate Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering at UFMG, Brazil and Coordinater of the Graduate Program of Eletric Engineering in the same institution. His main research interests are in the field of optimization and artificial intelligence, including multiobjective optimization, genetic algorithms, evolutionary computation, and hybrid algorithms. He is also interested in applied optimization problems in electrical engineering. Dr. Guimarães was a member of the INCOSE (The International Council on Systems Engineering), the SBIC (Brazilian Society of Computational Intelligence), and founding member of the INCOSE Brazilian Chapter. He is Senior member of IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS), IEEE Systems Council and IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society (SMCS).
