Welcome to the Postgraduate Program in Nutrition and Health at UFMG
The Postgraduate Program in Nutrition and Health (PPGNS) at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) offers master’s and doctoral courses with the aim of training highly qualified professionals for academic, scientific and professional work, promoting the advancement of knowledge in the areas of food, nutrition and health.
With nationally and internationally recognized excellence, the PPGNS integrates teaching, research and extension, contributing to improving the quality of life of the population. Its faculty is composed of experienced researchers with solid training and collaborations with institutions in Brazil and around the world.
The program has an interdisciplinary approach and lines of research that address relevant and current topics, such as:
- Nutritional epidemiology and public food policies;
- Food and nutritional security;
- Biochemistry, metabolism and nutritional assessment;
- Clinical nutrition and maternal and child health.
Located in Belo Horizonte, one of Brazil’s main capitals, the program offers excellent academic and scientific infrastructure, as well as a welcoming and safe environment for international students. UFMG offers support services for the foreign community, including Portuguese courses, academic advising and administrative support.
The PPGNS also encourages internationalization through partnerships and agreements with universities and research centers in several countries, enabling student and professor exchanges, as well as research internships abroad.
