How does poverty manifest itself around you? Would you like to use your professional knowledge to help address these challenges? Participate in the China–Latin America Challenge to Alleviate Poverty 2026!
Poverty is a multidimensional phenomenon that goes beyond income, encompassing inadequate infrastructure, limited access to quality education and healthcare, and social exclusion. Addressing these complex and interconnected challenges requires solutions adapted to local realities. In this sense, professional skills from diverse areas can play a fundamental role in designing effective strategies to reduce poverty and promote sustainable development.
This challenge invites students from China and Latin America to contribute to the reduction of global poverty through intercultural collaboration. We hope to count on your participation and the exchange of ideas on solutions to global challenges.
The winning teams will be awarded a study trip to China!
Those interested should pre-register on the website and follow the official launch of the competition, which will take place online on April 11th at 9 am.
The access link will be sent to registered participants beforehand. During the meeting, the regulations, methodology, and guidelines for forming transnational teams will be detailed.
About the initiative
Launched in 2024 by Tsinghua University and partner universities in Latin America – the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) – this initiative has promoted a dynamic dialogue on poverty reduction between China and Latin American countries. In 2025, the University of Chile and the University of the Pacific in Peru joined the initiative. The network continues to expand, and in 2026, the Chinese Embassy in Brazil officially began acting as a co-organizer in the country.
