Promoted by the Maria Sibylla Merian Center for Advanced Latin American Studies (CALAS) and the Institute of Transdisciplinary Advanced Studies (IEAT), the annual call for the CALAS-IEAT Chair program is now open.
The CALAS/IEAT Chair aims to contribute to the development of new methodological and analytical approaches to understand transformations and crises in Latin America through a research project that must be carried out within the scope of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in Belo Horizonte.
The program offers a scholarship for the selected candidate to stay for three months at UFMG, as well as covering round-trip airfare to Belo Horizonte and to the main headquarters of CALAS in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Submissions can be made until January 7, 2024.
Strategic identities and crises in Latin America – processes and tensions are the thematic focus of this call, which aims to welcome projects based on guiding questions studied in the CALAS Knowledge Lab. The projects should discuss issues related to how crises provoke, make visible, or are symptomatic of profound social changes, and how social change induced by crises is perceived and reflected by various social actors in different fields, from politics, economics, cultural production, media, and social movements in Latin America and the Caribbean.
