Promoted by the Institute for Advanced Transdisciplinary Studies (IEAT) and the Directorate of Cultural Action (DAC), the event took stock of the concept of advanced knowledge, how to articulate it with the transdisciplinary notion, identifying emerging directions of research in the various fields of to know.

The opening conference, given by Lilia Schwarcz, from USP, dealt with the theme: Turn of the century: from the impasses of the 19th to the projections of the 21st. The exhibition took place at 9:15 am, in the Rectory auditorium, Pampulha campus. The event continued with a series of lectures and debates on what is advanced in Literature and Arts, in Life Sciences, in Technology, in Humanities and in Natural Sciences.

The closing lecture addressed the question: “What is an advanced university?”, with presentations by the rector of UFMG, Ronaldo Tadêu Pena, and professors Ivan Domingues, from the Faculty of Economic Sciences and José Israel Vargas, from the Institute of Exact Sciences .
