The Short-Term Chair Program, promoted by the Institute of Transdisciplinary Advanced Studies (IEAT) and funded by the UFMG Support Foundation (Fundep), is accepting applications from August 18 to October 18, 2026.
The program seeks to select up to three internationally renowned researchers to collaborate with UFMG researchers.
The Short-Term Chair Program aims to foster the presence of leading international researchers at UFMG, facilitate interaction with local research groups, encourage the advancement of transdisciplinary research, and contribute to the internationalization of both IEAT and UFMG, thereby expanding their integration into the global academic landscape.
The residency at the university must last exactly 30 days and may take place between May 2027 and April 2028.
During this period, academic activities must be carried out; these may include collaborative research projects, seminars, and/or short courses for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as conferences, working meetings, lectures, and workshops.
Who may nominate
Proposals must be submitted by permanent, active faculty members at UFMG who hold a doctoral degree, have a proven track record in the relevant field of knowledge, and possess experience in a work area with transdisciplinary potential. If the nominations are approved, the proposers will serve as hosts for the chairholders during their stay at the University.
Nominated researchers must demonstrate seniority and international recognition, evidenced by their academic trajectory, research maturity, and leadership capacity within study and research groups.
