The International Congress on Science, Biodiversity and Sustainability
In 2019, during the 1st SciBioSus, important issues related to the triad of science, biodiversity and sustainability were discussed at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil), such as new technologies and sustainability, environmental situation and sustainability indicators, trends in the research of bioactive natural products, challenges and biodiversity richness. After the difficult period of pandemic and greatly motivated by COP27, UFMG will bring, in June 4-7, 2023, the 2ndSciBioSus, a broader, modern and comprehensive event.
COP27 was an important occasion to discuss the gravity of the global climate challenge. Continuing this discussion, and also supported by science, SciBioSus will be an opportunity to gather scientists, students and the general public to listen outstanding experiences, proposals and questionings related to the intercorrelation among science, biodiversity and sustainability in the face of current climate change.
Reflection about biodiversity has the aim of discussing the protection, valuation and restoration of natural ecosystems, showing their weaknesses before climate changes, as well as the effect of such changes in indigenous peoples and traditional communities. We will also discuss solutions to protect, restore and show the value of biodiversity while addressing climate change impacts.
The 2nd SciBioSus will be a dynamic event, with simultaneous sessions in the different areas of the congress, and will bring many opportunities for debates, learning, networking and exchange of experiences.
