Portuguese as an Additional Language

The Portuguese as an Additional Language course will be offered at UFMG SSBS during the two-week program, four days a week, for international students. Students will be divided into four groups as described below:

  • Groups 1: Students with little or no knowledge of Portuguese will take the course Portuguese as an Additional Language – Elementary.
  • Groups 2: Students with some knowledge of Portuguese will take the course Portuguese as an Additional Language – Basic.
  • Group 3: Spanish-speaking students with little or no knowledge of Portuguese will take the course Portuguese as an Additional Language – Basic for Spanish Speakers.
  • Group 4: Students with considerable knowledge of Portuguese will take the course Portuguese as an Additional Language – Advanced.

Course schedule:

  • July 21 – Class from 13:00 to 15:30
  • July 22 – Class from 13:00 to 15:30
  • July 23 – Class from 13:00 to 14:00 (There will be a special session on this day, so class will end earlier)
  • July 24 – Class from 13:00 to 15:30
  • July 25 – No Portuguese class; Movie Club activity
  • July 28 – Class from 13:00 to 15:30
  • July 29 – Class from 13:00 to 15:30
  • July 30 – Class from 13:00 to 15:30
  • July 31 – No Portuguese class; field trip to Inhotim
  • August 1 – No Portuguese class; closing meeting at Praça de Serviços

Workload: 20 hours.

Assessment: Students will be evaluated through a variety of activities, including written exercises, tests, and oral production tasks.
