National Conference

The International South American Humanities Conference is an integral part of the International Year of Global Understanding that aims at discussing globalization in its international, national and regional dimensions. The event is is conceived of as a preparatory activity for the World Humanities Conference, which will take place in 2017 in Liege, Belgium. It will also be an integral part of the UFMG 90th anniversary celebrations.

The event will be built around 10 thematic strands that, the one hand, will guide the organization of round tables and the creation of work groups composed of specially invited experts in their respective domains, and, on the other hand, will offer the opportunity of poster presentations by M.A. and Ph.D. students.

The thematic strands are as follows:

1. Borders and migration;
2. Identities and languages;
3. Gender and cultural diversity;
4. Relations with the land and the countryside;
5. Social control and habitability;
6. Ecology and environment;
7. Law and education;
8. Urban space and violence;
9. Materialities and representations;
10. Social development and innovation.
