Alberto Guarani Mbyá

Belonging to the indigenous Guarani Nhandeva group, Alberto Guarani Mbyá is a professor of the Guarani language at the Federal Fluminense University (UFF). He also collaborates with the Ethnographic Films Laboratory at the same institution, working with the production, editing and directing of documentaries. He received a fellowship to participate in the Program for the Documentation of Languages and Cultures from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). He is an indigenous researcher in the Ministry of Education and works in the area of cinema and education, with an emphasis in linguistics.

Aldrin Moura Figueiredo

Professor at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), Aldrin Figueiredo works in the area of Cultural History, with emphasis on the following subjects: Visual arts, critical essays, Amazonian visual and literary arts from the 19th and 20th centuries, heritage sites, memory and foreign immigrant archives in the Amazon and the social history of Amazonian intellectuals from the 18th to the 20th centuries.

André Luís Ramos Soares

Professor at the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), André Soares has a PhD in Archeology from the University of São Paulo (USP) and a Master’s in History from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUC-RS). André carries out projects in the area of archeology, memory, heritage education and immigration. He coordinated the project Conexões de Saberes (MEC, 2010), part of the program Inovador de Cursos (MEC-SECAD-2007) and he participated in the Tutorial Education Program – Indigenous PET (MINC – UFSM 2015).

Antônio Gomes Batista

Professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Antônio Gomes Batista conducted postdoctoral research at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences in Paris and worked as a Visiting Professor at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo and at the National University of La Plata. His main research interests include the construction of school inequalities, especially as they relate to socio-geographic inequalities in large urban centers. He currently heads the Coordination for Research Development of the Center for Studies and Research in Education, Culture and Community Action (CENPEC) in São Paulo.

Bráulio Figueiredo Alves da Silva

A graduate of the Federal University of Minas Gerais with a degree in Social Sciences, Bráulio Figueiredo Silva received professional training in Quantitative Analysis from the University of Texas at Austin. He holds a Master’s degree in Sociology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2004) and a PhD in Sociology from the same institution (2012). Currently he is an Adjunct Professor in the Sociology Department at UFMG, a researcher at the Research Center for Crime and Safety (CRISP) and at the Center for Qualitative Research in Social Sciences from UFMG. He works in the following fields: Urban management, public safety, criminality, violence, spatial analysis of crimes and geographic information systems.

Bruna Franchetto

Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Bruna Franchetto has a PhD in Social Anthropology from the same university, and Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from the College of Philosophy of the Sapienza University of Rome. Carrying out research in the areas of Ethnology and Linguistics, her academic and scientific work has focused on indigenous languages, specifically the Upper Xingu, Brazilian indigenous languages, linguistic documentation, grammar theories, indigenous oral traditions, verbal arts, indigenous educational anthropology and anthropology of women.

César Lorenzano

Professor at the National University of Tres de Febrero, Argentina. Currently, he is the Director of Master’s and Doctorate programs in the Epistemology and History of Science at the same university, and a member of the steering committee of the International Federation of Philosophical Societies. He received his M.D. from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and has a PhD in History and Philosophy from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). His researches focus on theoretical and epistemological aspects of medicine, art theory and the history of science, having published numerous articles and books in these areas.

Cristina Almeida Cunha Filgueiras

Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC-Minas). She has a PhD in Sociology from the School for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences. Her researches focus mainly on the following areas: Public policy, social management, poverty and inequality, municipal governance, evaluations and international cooperation.

Élerson Silva

Élerson Silva holds a degree in Philosophy from the Santa Terezinha Institute of Philosophy and in History from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). He is a representative of the Brazilian Caritas Organization, where he works as an advisor and project supervisor. Caritas is an organization acting in the promotion and defense of human rights, food security and sustainable development in solidarity with various social groups, among them, migrants.

Erika Marion Robrahn González

She is a professor at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) in Portugal. She received her doctorate and her livre docência from the Museum of Archeology and Ethnology at the University of São Paulo (USP). She is a researcher at the Center for Strategic Studies at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp). She is the president of the Scientific Commission Archaeological Heritage Policies and Management Structures at UISPP (Union International des Sciences Prehistoriques et Protohistoriques).

Fabio Vergara

Fabio Vergara is an Associate Professor in the History Department at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel) where he is also the director of the History Graduate Program. Holding a PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of São Paulo (USP), he has extensive experience in the field of History, specifically in Historical Archeology and Classical Archeology, working with the following topics: Music, archeology, classical antiquities, ancient history and iconography. In recent years, he has worked in the fields of Social Memory and Cultural Heritage, as well as museum management.

Fernando Ortega

Steel and Metallurgical Engineer at the University of Lima, he has an MBA from the University of the Pacific, a Master’s in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal. He is a member of the Latin American Chapter of the World Future Studies Federation, the Latin American Network of Prospective and Technological Surveillance and the Latin American Network of Prospective (RIBER). He is the president of the Millenium Project in Peru and the president of the Peruvian Association of Prospective and Studies of the Future (APROEF). He was the Executive Director and Secretary General of the Peruvian National Council for Science, Technology and Innovation (CONCYTEC).

Francisco Eduardo Andrade

Professor at the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP), he has a PhD in Economic History from the University of São Paulo (USP). He conducted postdoctoral research at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS) in Paris. His research interests are mainly related to the history of Brazil, working in the following fields, among others: history methodology, borders and territorialities, history of mining and agricultural practices, power and the administration of the Portuguese-American state.

Gilvan Müller de Oliveira

Gilvan Müller is a professor at the University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and the Deputy Executive Secretary of MAAYA – the World Network for Linguistic Diversity. He has a PhD in Linguistics from the State University of Campinas, a Master’s in Linguistic Theory, Philosophy and History from the University of Konstanz in Germany and he conducted postdoctoral research at the Autonomous Metropolitan University of Iztapalapa in Mexico. He received the Lusophone Person of the Year Award during the year of the International Lusophone Movement (MIL) and the Meendinho Award, from the Meendinho Foundation, for services to the Portuguese Language and to Galicia. He works with linguistic policy and the history of language, focusing on the issue of mutilingualism and its promotion.

Hamilton Borges

Representative of the Reaja ou será morto, Reaja ou será morta Campaign, a movement that seeks the unification of black movements and communities across the Brazilian state of Bahia. It is nationally coordinated in conjunction with other organizations fighting against police brutality, for antiprison causes and the reparations to families of the victims of the State and death squads, militias and extermination groups.

Inguelore Scheunemann

Inguelore Scheunemann was the President of the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel) and the University of Vale do Rio Doce (Univale). She was the manager of the area of Science and Society of the Ibero-American Science and Technology Program for Development where she also served as an advisor to the secretary general. She performed academic and research activities in microbiology, connected to human diseases and the biologic control of pests and vectors. She works in the area of Integrated Territorial Management for Sustainable Development, coordinating programs in both academic and business environments. Currently, she is the Director of Research and Development at the Bio Atlantic Institute (IBIO).

João Antônio de Paula

Professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and a researcher at the Center for Development and Regional Planning (CEDEPLAR). He has a doctorate in Economic History. His research interests are connected to the areas of economic history and economic policy. He has extensively published academic and scientific papers discussing topics such as Marxist economic policies, the environment, economic history, and the economy of Minas Gerais and cities.

João Pedro Stédile

A graduate of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUC-RS) with a degree in economics with postgraduate studies at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), João Pedro Stédile is a member of the national office of the Landless Workers Movement (MST), which he helped to found. Since 1979, he has been involved in the struggle for land reform in Brazil. He served as an advisor to the Pastoral Land Commission (CPT) in Rio Grande do Sul and at the national level as well as working in the Rio Grande do Sul state Department of Agriculture.

Joceli Andrioli

Joceli Andrioli is a graduate of the Technical Training and Research Institute for Agrarian Reform with a degree in Ecopedagogy. He is a representative of the Brazilian Movement of People Affected by Dams (MAB), a national social movement that fights for the rights of families and communities directly or indirectly affected by the construction or breakage of Dams.

John Crowley

Chief of Section for Research, Policy and Foresight in the UNESCO Division of Social Transformations and Intercultural Dialogue. Before joining UNESCO, he worked as an economist in the oil industry (1988-95) and as a research fellow at the French National Political Science Foundation (1995-2002). From 2002 to 2015, he was editor of the International Social Science Journal. He is the author of Sans épines, la rose. Tony Blair: un modèle pour l’Europe and editor of Tony Blair, le nouveau travaillisme et la troisième voie; Pacifications, réconciliations, and Rethinking Human Security. He has published a further 90 academic articles and book chapters, mainly on political theory and comparative politics.

Jorge Gelman

Professor at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and researcher and director of the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), located at the Ravignani Institute. Additionally, he was president of the Argentine Association of Economic History. He has published books and articles about Argentine and Latin American social, political and economic history, from the colonial period to the 19th century. His areas of research include the history of economic inequality in 19th century Argentina, the agricultural history of the province of Buenos Aires, changes in property rights and inequality and social conflict in Buenos Aires during the nineteenth century.

José Augusto Pádua

Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He received his Doctorate and Master’s in Political Science from the University Research Institute of Rio de Janeiro – IUPERJ. Additionally, he is a researcher and member of the Board of the International Consortium of Environmental History Organizations. His researches focus on topics related to Environmental History such as Brazilian history, territorial history, regional history, the history of forests and agroecosystems, the history of science, the history of ideas about nature, the history of environmental and sustainable development policies.

Leonardo Péricles

Representative of the Movement for Struggle in Neighborhoods, Boroughs and Favelas (MLB). MLB is a national social movement that fights for urban reform and for the human right to live with dignity.

Leonel Cabrera

Professor at the University of the Republic (UDELAR), Uruguay. He holds a PhD in Archeology from the University of Zaragoza in Spain. An archeologist, he carries out researches about indigenous issues besides being an advisor to the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works and the Uruguayan National Research and Innovation Agency (ANII).

Lúcia da Costa Ferreira

Professor at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), Lúcia da Costa Ferreira holds a PhD in Social Sciences from the same institution. As an ecologist and a sociologist, she undertakes and manages research projects about social conflict, social action, biodiversity conservation, climate change, environmental risks and disasters especially in the Amazon and the Atlantic Forest.

Luciano Mendes Faria Filho

Full Professor in the College of Education at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), where he is the director of the Center for Research, Memory and Documentation and coordinates the Project Think About Education, Think About Brazil – 1822/2022. He has experience in Education field, with an emphasis in the History of Education, studying the following topics: History of education, the history of childhood, school culture, the history of scholarization, intellectuals and education in Brazil, Brazilian social thought and education.

Luiz Oosterbeek

Coordinating Professor and the Vice President of the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar, Luiz Oosterbeek is the Secretary General of the International Council of Philosophy and Human Sciences and of the International Union of Prehistoric and Protohistoric Sciences. Additionally, he is the Vice President of HERITY International, an Advisor of the World Cultural Forum (China) and coordinating member of the International Year of Global Understanding. He is the director of various projects in Europe, Africa and Latin America as well as the Director of the Mação Museum. He is the President of the Earth and Memory Institute and he leads the GQPC of the Center for Geosciences at the University of Coimbra. He is the coordinator of the Master’s and Doctorate programs in Archeology and Cultural Management.

Marcelo Fabián Sain

Professor at the National University of Quilmes in Argentina, Marcelo Fabián Sain holds a PhD in Social Sciences from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) and a Master’s in Social Sciences from the Latin American Social Sciences Institute in Argentina. He is a researcher in the Incentive Program of the Argentina Ministry of Education and the director of the Center for Studies in Government and Security at the Metropolitan University for Education and Work (UMET).

Maria Alejandra Saleme Daza

Project Specialist at the Agency for Cooperation and Investment of Medellin – ACI. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Government and International Relations from the Universidad Externado de Colombia and a Master’s in International Law and International Relations from the Complutense University of Madrid. During the last 4 years at ACI-Medellin, she has been responsible for coordinating and monitoring all processes and opportunities for international cooperation with international partners in the areas of urban and social development.

Maria Luisa Soux

Professor at the Higher University of San Andrés, Maria Luisa Soux holds a PhD in Social Sciences, with a specialization in History, from the National University of San Marcos, Peru. Additionally, she received her Master’s in Latin American History from the International University of Andalucía, Spain and a Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Human Rights Law from the Universidad de la Cordillera, Bolivia. She is the author of numerous books, including El Complejo Proceso Hacia La Independencia de Charcas, La Paz En Su Ausencia and La Coca Liberal.

Maria Medianeira Padoin

Professor at the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSC), Brazil. She holds a PhD in History from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Her research interests include border spaces in the Platine Region, political history and federalism, the construction of Nation States, immigration and heritage. She also carries out activities in Higher Education management and evaluation. She is the general coordinator of the History, Region and Border Committee of the Montevideo Group Association of Universities (AUGM).

Maria Rita Casagrande

Maria Rita Casagrande holds a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Analysis and is currently enrolled in a graduate program studying the development of applications WEB. She is a member of the movement Blogueira Negras, a project created from the collective bloggings of black and afro-descendent women gathered to discuss issues like negritude, feminism and cultural production in Brazil. She is the creator of the website True Love, a site for lesbians and bisexual women. Finally, she is also the creator of the Audre Lorde Collective for black and afro-descendent lesbians and bisexual women.

Mário de Lacerda Werneck Neto

Professor of Environmental Law at FUMEC University, Mário Werneck is currently a PhD student in the Department of Territory, Archeology and Heritage at the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar (IPT) and in the Department of Geology at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD). He is the president of the Commission for Environmental Law, Logistics, Infrastructure and Sustainable Development of the Order of Attorneys of Brazil (OAB/MG). He is also a member of the Environmental Law Committee of the Federal Council of OAB. He has received awards in the environmental field, and is an active defender of environmental preservation. A writer, he has released the books Environmental Law as Seen by Us Lawyers and Environmental Law – Various Approaches.

Maristela Fonseca

Executive manager at the Knowledge Station of Brumadinho, a social development center managed by Instituto Kairós and director of PeCul&Ar (Pedagogia, Cultura & Arte). She has a degree in Pedagogy, from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and a Master´s degree in Knowledge and Media from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). Cultural and educational manager, art therapist, she has extensive experience in consulting, planning and project managing, and in areas related to culture, education and social development.

Maurício Andrés Ribeiro

A graduate of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Maurício Andrés Ribeiro is an architect and ecologist. He is an advisor to and Acting Sectretary General of the National Water Agency and the Vice-President of the City of Peace Foundation, Brasilia. He was the President of the Institute of Architects of Brazil, in Minas Gerais, Secretary of the Environment of Belo Horizonte, President of the State Environmental Foundation of Minas Gerais and the Executive Director of the National Council for the Environment, in the Ministry of the Environment.

Michel DeGraff

Michel DeGraff is a Professor of Linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the director of the MIT-Haiti Initiative. He is a founding member of the Akademi Kreyòl Ayisyen (The Haitian Creole Academy). His research interests include syntax, morphology and linguistic change, especially as they pertain to Haitian Creole. He is interested in the relationships and intersections between education, language and policy.

Nilma Lino Gomes

Professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. She was the Chief Minister of the Presidential Department of Policy and the Promotion of Racial Equality – SEPPIR/PR. Additionally, she was the President of the University for the International Integration of the Afro-Brazilian Lusophony. She holds a PhD in Social Anthropology and a Master’s in Education from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. She conducted postdoctoral research in sociology at the University of Coimbra. Her research interests include diversity, culture and education; ethno-racial relations and education; teacher education and ethno-racial diversity; educational policy; social and racial inequality; diversity and social movements in education.

Ochy Curiel Pichardo

Professor at the National University of Colombia. Ochy Curiel Pichardo has a degree in Social Work from the Pontifical Catholic University Madre y Maestra in the Dominican Republic. She is one of the founders of the Latin American Group for Feminist Study, Education and Action (GLEFAS) and she is an activist in the Latin American and Caribbean Lesbian-Feminist Movement. Currently she teaches courses about racism, patriarchy, lesbianism and feminism at the National University of Colombia.

Rosalind Hackett

Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Tennessee, Rosalind Hackett holds a PhD in Religious Studies from the University of Aberdeen in the UK and a Master’s in Religious History and Philosophy from King’s College London. She is the Vice President of UNESCO’s International Council on Philosophy and the Human Sciences (CIPSH). She is the President and honorary member of the International Association for the History of Religions (IAHR). She has published extensively about African religions, about new religious movements, religious media, gender and religion, the regulation of religious diversity and religion and conflict.

Sérgio Adorno

Professor of Sociology at the University of São Paulo (USP). He has conducted postdoctoral research at the Centre de Recherches Sociologiques sur le Droit et les Institutions Pénales, CESDIP, France. He is the scientific coordinator of the Center for the Studies of Violence at USP and the president of the National Association for Human Rights, Research and Post-Graduate Studies (ANDHEP). He heads the UNESCO Chair for Education for Peace, Human Rights, Democracy and Tolerance and he is the scientific coordinator of the Project Building Democracy Daily: Human Rights, Violence and Institutional Trust. He has experience in the field of Sociology, with an emphasis in Political Sociology, and his research interests include violence, human rights, urban criminality, social control and social conflicts.

Susanna Hetch

Professor of Urban Planning at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Susanna Hetch research focuses on the intersections of economies, cultures and land use, and the socio-environmental effects of these processes, also known as political ecology. Her area of focus is the Latin American Tropics and the Amazon, having published the following books: The Social Lives of Forests, The Scramble for the Amazon and the Lost Paradise of Euclides da Cunha, The Fate of the Forest: Developers, Destroyers, and Defenders of the Amazon.

Vanessa Beco

Member of the Canal Futura Mobilization Team. Social educator and supervisor in social programs. She has a degree in Personnel Management, Group Processes Moderation, Personnel Administration, Business Management, and Management and Cultural Planning. She is a board member of the Youth Forum of the Greater Belo Horizonte area.

Verônica Santana

Representative of the Movement of Northeastern Rural Female Workers. She is also a member of the March of the Daises, Brazil, an organization that represents rural women.

Virginia Sampaio Teixeira Ciminelli

Full professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Virginia Ciminelli holds a Ph.D. in Mineral Processing from the Penn State University (USA) and a Master’s in Metallurgical and Mining Engineering from UFMG. In Brazil, she is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and the National Engineering Academy. She is a foreign member of the National Academy of Engineering (USA). She coordinates the National Institute of Science and Technology in Mineral Resources, Water and Biodiversity (INCT Acqua). Her research interests include solid-liquid reactions in hydrometallurgical processes and in environmental recovery and protection.
