The Institute for Advanced Transdisciplinary Studies (IEAT) at UFMG is accepting applications from September 1 to October 26, 2025, for the Professor-in-Residence Program, designed for UFMG faculty members currently serving and focused on promoting advanced transdisciplinary research.
Six positions will be offered to faculty members who contribute to human resource development and research productivity in the areas of Humanities, Literature, and Arts; Life Sciences, including Health; and Natural Sciences and Technologies. Successful candidates will complete their residency at the institute between March 2 and December 31, 2026.
New to this edition, priority will be given to research projects related to the Human and Non-Human domain. The choice of the theme responds to a highly relevant contemporary debate and invites research that explores the limits and frontiers of humanity in the face of transformations promoted by science and technology, as well as the recognition of other modes of existence – animals, ecosystems, things, machines, technical objects, and hybrid collectives. Defining a common theme also aims to enable greater interaction among residents. Other topics may be presented, even if they do not have the same priority.
The selected faculty will be fully exempt from administrative duties and undergraduate activities through a supplementary academic scholarship awarded to the successful candidate’s home department (or equivalent structure). Residents must participate in meetings and events promoted by the IEAT and participate in at least one activity open to the community, such as a lecture, short course, or workshop. Furthermore, they will receive logistical support from the IEAT and may apply for a Scientific Initiation grant linked to the project.
