The study of complex adaptive systems through agent-based computer simulations has gained considerable visibility in recent years, sparking interest that crosses not only disciplinary boundaries but even divides large areas of knowledge, such as those typically drawn between the exact, biological, and human sciences. This development poses significant challenges for the academic community, but at the same time opens up new and promising prospects for fruitful scientific collaboration. This paper aims to discuss some relevant theoretical aspects of these systems, as well as examine the prospects for their systematic study within the UFMG.
