The Institute for Advanced Transdisciplinary Studies – IEAT – holds an Annual Seminar every year. On October 19th and 20th, 2017, the Annual Seminar of the Institute of Advanced Studies at UFMG was held.

In this Seminar, held within UFMG’s Knowledge Week, IEAT brought to the community an extract of its activities during the year. On October 19th, resident researchers presented the work carried out during the period. Two round tables were presented on Transdisciplinary approaches in the social context, the purpose of which was to highlight the need for a non-disciplinary approach in the treatment of concrete social problems. Closing the day, Editora da Ufmg and IEAT launched the book Inadequate for the Future – The need for moral improvements, by Ingmar Persson and Julian Savulescu, a work translated into Portuguese by professor Brunello Souza Stancioli from the Faculty of Law of UFMG who part of the IEAT Collection.

On the 20th, based on the theme of Knowledge Week, professor Ralph Teixeira, from the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics at the Universidade Federal Fluminense, presented a conference on the topic of Computer Vision Panorama. The conference was followed by a discussion on the contribution of mathematics to transdisciplinary projects, with the participation of UFMG professors Alberto Henrique Frade Laender, Ado Jório Vasconcelos and Márcio Flávio Dutra de Moraes.
