IEAT 20-year cycle
Seminar Present and future impacts of climate change in Brazil
Date: November 18, 2019
Location: UFMG Rectory Auditorium
The earth’s temperature has increased. In recent decades, accompanying this increase, impacts such as changes in rainfall patterns and an increase in the frequency of extreme events such as hurricanes and droughts have affected many populations. Although changes in the global climate can occur naturally, in gradual processes, there is consensus in the scientific community that rapid transformations were caused by the increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, caused by the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. In this way, the event aims to reflect on climate change, considering the transdisciplinary nature of the phenomenon.
Event organized in partnership with the Forest Code Observatory (OCF) and the Amazon Environmental Research Institute.
