Clélio Campolina Diniz
Professor Emeritus of the School of Economic Sciences of UFMG, working mainly on the following topics: regional economy, Brazilian economy, economics of technology and economic development. Post-doctorate from the University of Rutgers, USA (1991), PhD (1987) and Master's (1978) in Economic Science from the State University of Campinas. Graduated in Mechanical Engineering (1970) and in Operations Engineering (1967) from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais with a specialization in Development and Planning from the Latin American Institute of Economic and Social Planning of the UN (1971). Rector of UFMG (2010-2014), director of FACE/UFMG (1998-2006) and director of the Postgraduate Program in Economics at FACE/UFMG (1979-1981 and 1984-1985).
Paulo Sérgio Lacerda Beirão
Emeritus Professor of UFMG, he holds a degree in Medicine from UFMG (1972), a master's and a doctorate from the Carlos Chagas Filho Institute of Biophysics at UFRJ (1976 and 1980, respectively), and a postdoctoral degree from the University of Leicester, U.K. (1993). He was a Research Associate at the University of Pennsylvania and Jefferson Medical College (1976-1977) and an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Leicester (1992-1993). He was president of the Brazilian Society of Biophysics (1994-1996) and of the Brazilian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2006-2008), and vice-president of the Brazilian Society of Toxinology. He was coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Biochemistry and Immunology, and led the creation of the Doctoral Course in Bioinformatics, of which he was the first coordinator. He was Vice-Rector of Research at UFMG (1998-2002). Under his management, the project for the creation of the UFMG technology park (BH-TEC) was developed. He coordinated the creation of the Institute of Advanced Transdisciplinary Studies of UFMG, of which he was the first president.
Heloísa de Oliveira Beraldo
She holds a degree in Chemistry from UFMG (1974), a Master's degree in Chemistry from the same institution (1979) and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Paris VI (1984) (Docteur d' État ès Sciences Physiques). She did her postdoctoral studies at Illinois State University (USA). She is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Chemistry at UFMG. She was a member of the Chemistry Advisory Committee (CA-QU) of CNPq from 2007 to 2013, having been Vice-Coordinator (2011-2012) and Coordinator of CA-QU (2012-2013). She is a member of the Governance and Monitoring Committee of the National Institute of Science and Technology of Pharmaceuticals and Medicines (INCT-INOFAR). She is a Full Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. She was elected Member of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS, Fellow, 2021).
Rodrigo Patto Sá Motta
He holds a degree in History from UFMG (1990), a master's degree in History from the same institution (1993) and a PhD in History from the University of São Paulo (2000). He completed postdoctoral studies and worked as a visiting professor-researcher at the University of Maryland (2006-2007). He is currently a full professor at UFMG. He has experience in the area of History, with an emphasis on the History of the Republic of Brazil and Contemporary History. He works mainly in the field of Political History, researching both themes from the classical perspective (parties, institutions) and approaches that dialogue with the "new history" (representations, iconography, political culture). He was president of the National History Association (ANPUH) from 2013 to 2015, and is a member of other scientific entities such as the Latin American Studies Association (LASA) and the International Commission for the History and Theory of Historiography (ICHTH).
Virgínia Sampaio Teixeira Ciminelli
Professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at UFMG. She has coordinated several significant research initiatives, including the National Institute of Science and Technology in Mineral Resources, Water and Biodiversity, as well as the Millennium Institute: Water, a Mineral Vision. She served as Director of the Microscopy Center and Head of the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at UFMG. Her work focuses on the recovery of precious, base and strategic metals from primary and secondary sources, with a strong emphasis on the principles of circular economy and the sustainable development of mining regions. Ciminelli holds a degree in Chemical Engineering, a master's degree in Metallurgical and Mining Engineering from UFMG and a PhD in Mineral Processing from Penn State University.
Unaí Tupinambás
He holds a degree in Medicine from UFMG (1986), a master's degree in Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine (1999) and a PhD in the Postgraduate Course in Health Sciences: Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine (2004) — both from UFMG. He is a Full Professor in the Department of Clinical Medicine at the UFMG School of Medicine. Technical advisor to the Department of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Viral Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections (2006-present). Leader of the CNPq research group (HIV/AIDS and COVID-19). He is currently conducting studies to evaluate non-infectious complications in people living with HIV, in addition to other research projects on the clinical management of HIV infection. He has conducted research on COVID: "Pool testing" and Aging and COVID and assessment of the Pandemic in Belo Horizonte.
Evaldo Ferreira Vilela
He holds a degree in Agronomy from the Federal University of Viçosa, a master's degree in Entomology from ESALQ/USP and a PhD in Chemical Ecology from the University of Southampton, UK. He is a Full Professor and currently a Volunteer Professor in the UFV Graduate Program. He was Rector of the Federal University of Viçosa, Head of the Department of Animal Biology, Director of the Center for Biological and Health Sciences and creator and Coordinator of the Graduate Programs in Entomology and Animal Biology at UFV. He is a founding member of the Center for Biotechnology Applied to Agriculture (BIOAGRO). He works as a professor and researcher in the areas of Agriculture, Entomology, Chemical Ecology and Biological and Behavioral Control of Insects. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Belo Horizonte Technology Park (BHTEC) since its creation in 2009, of the Board of SEBRAE-MG and of the Board of Trustees of the João Pinheiro Foundation. He is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC), the Brazilian Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Future Forum chaired by Alysson Paolinelli.
