Promotional art for the Artificial Intelligence discipline – IEAT/UFMG
The course Artificial Intelligence, Disinformation and Current Challenges will be offered in the second half of 2025. The course, which is an initiative of the Institutes and Centers for Advanced Studies of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFJR), and the University of Brasília (UnB), is open to undergraduate and graduate students from the three institutions.
According to the syllabus, the course aims to analyze the contemporary challenges arising from the increasing use of artificial intelligence in the most diverse domains of life and daily life. The main real and pervasive impacts of AI on the phenomenon of disinformation and the institutional crises it has been causing will be addressed. With an interdisciplinary focus, the discipline will address perspectives from philosophy, communication, law, information science, political science, computing, among others, with the aim of addressing this field of problems in its various possible facets.
The course will take place from August 21 to November 13, 2025, with a workload of 30 hours and 2 credits. Classes, scheduled for Thursdays at 7:00 pm, will be taught remotely, via Zoom Meetings (24 hours/classes), and in person, at a location to be defined (6 hours/theoretical and practical classes).

For graduate students, the course will be offered in the Philosophy graduate program at UFMG, using the code FIL791. For students in other graduate programs, enrollment can be done as an elective course. For courses in which enrollment has already ended, a request for enrollment adjustment may be made through the UFMG graduate program secretariats. Brazilian Forum of Advanced Institutes (Fobreav)
The course is offered by the Brazilian Forum of Advanced Institutes (Fobreav), which brings together Institutes and Centers for Advanced Studies at Brazilian Universities. Fobreav aims to be a space for action and creative critical reflection on the strategic challenges in implementing interdisciplinary studies and research in the country. One of its objectives is to develop initiatives and programs aimed at integrating universities through the construction of knowledge production networks based on inter and transdisciplinarity.
