Tatiana Queiroz, academic advisor at IEAT-UFMG, participated in the international staff exchange program of the University Based Institutes for Advanced Study (UBIAS) network from October 20th to November 10th, 2025. The experience took place at the Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies (AIAS) in Denmark, one of the most renowned centers for advanced studies in Europe.
Over three weeks, Tatiana underwent an intensive immersion in the institutional functioning of AIAS, observing academic management routines, communication, the organization of international programs, and the welcoming of fellows. The agenda included meetings with different sectors of the institute, participation in seminars, and direct observation of the administrative practices that support one of the most active institutes for advanced studies within the UBIAS network.
According to Tatiana Queiroz, the experience provided a renewed perspective on governance models and communication strategies adopted by leading institutes. In her words, “the immersion at AIAS profoundly impacted me. The structure, the welcoming atmosphere, the institutional culture based on collaboration, and the atmosphere that promotes advanced research are a constant stimulus to ideas. I return to IEAT with new references and inspired to contribute so that we can incorporate practices that further strengthen our institute.”
The exchange program is part of UBIAS’s initiatives aimed at the international sharing of best practices and the professional development of technical and administrative teams working in institutes for advanced studies around the world. As a direct result of this cooperation, in 2026 IEAT will host two professionals from the staff of institutes within this network, one from Zukunftskolleg, Germany, and the other from AIAS, Denmark, expanding the exchange of experiences and strengthening the Institute’s international relations.
IEAT’s participation in this initiative reaffirms UFMG’s commitment to internationalization and excellence in the management of innovative academic programs, promoting an environment increasingly connected to global networks of advanced research.
