In an unprecedented initiative at UFMG, the Institute for Advanced Transdisciplinary Studies (IEAT) launched, in August, an international exchange program for its Technical-Administrative Education employees.

As the result of a partnership between IEAT and the Institute for Discovery at University College Dublin (UCD Institute for Discovery), the first experience was experienced by server Aretusa Duarte, who was at the University of Dublin for four weeks, sharing knowledge, experiences and improving your technical skills.

According to UCD Discovery Manager, Tara Byrne, “the exchange program allowed technical staff from both institutes to work across borders, sharing knowledge, resources and innovative ideas.”

Corroborating Tara Byrne, Aretusa Duarte, who has been the institute’s Executive Secretary for 16 years, said that the partnership with UCD Discovery served not only to strengthen ties between the two institutes, but also contributed to interculturality and the exchange of knowledge about inter and transdisciplinary research. “I cannot fail to mention the opportunity for immersion in a foreign language which: strengthens socio-emotional skills, improves communication and expands networking, cooperating with the internationalization of the Institute and the University itself”, he highlights.

International exchange in partnership with other IEAs

The international exchange project for technical-administrative staff was presented in Nagoya, Japan, in 2023, during a meeting of Directors of Institutes of Advanced Studies linked to the UBIAS network, University-Based Institutes for Advanced Study, of which IEAT is a member. The initiative, whose objective is to promote international exchange between the technical-administrative staff of the institutes that participate in the network, is in the initial phase of implementation and is carried out in partnership with advanced study institutes linked to the network.

The IEAT international exchange project, which meets UFMG’s own internationalization goals, in terms of training a technical team compatible with a world-class University, has the support of the Dean of Human Resources (PRORH ) from UFMG.
