Art promoting the II Seminar on Integration of the Chairs of Basic Education and Teacher Training of the Institutes of Advanced Studies of UFMG, UFRJ and USP.

The II Seminar on Integration of the Chairs of Basic Education and Teacher Training of the Institutes of Advanced Studies of UFMG, UFRJ and USP will be held on August 15th, from 9 am to 5 pm.

Held in a hybrid format, the seminar is scheduled for the auditorium of the Brazilian College of Advanced Studies at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (CBAE-UFRJ), and will be broadcast on the institution’s YouTube channel.

The event marks the continuation of the efforts initiated at the 1st seminar, held in April 2025 at UFMG, and will deepen the debate on research in basic education and teacher training within the scope of the Basic Education Chairs of the Institutes of Advanced Studies of the three universities.

“The proposal is to think about teacher training with the teachers themselves, recognizing the fundamental role of schools in the development of training policies and teaching knowledge,” highlights Professor Júlio Emílio Diniz Pereira, academic coordinator of the Magda Soares Chair of Basic Education at IEAT/UFMG, and one of the confirmed participants in the event.

Also participating in the seminar are basic education teachers Fernanda Lahtermaher, from the UFRJ Application College, and Saint Clair Marques, from the Hebert José de Souza Municipal School, in Belo Horizonte.

The full event schedule is available on the CBAE-UFRJ website. Certificates of participation will be issued to those interested in attending the event in person. Registration must be completed via the online form.

Chairs of Basic Education

The seminar is promoted by the Anísio Teixeira Chair of Teacher Training at the Brazilian College of Advanced Studies at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (CBAE-UFRJ) and the UFRJ Teacher Training Complex, in partnership with the Fundep Magda Soares Chair of Basic Education at the Institute of Advanced Transdisciplinary Studies (IEAT) at UFMG and the Alfredo Bosi Chair of Basic Education at the Institute of Advanced Studies at the University of São Paulo (IEA/USP).

The Basic Education Chairs at the Institutes of Advanced Studies at UFMG, UFRJ, and USP have dedicated themselves to researching and developing projects on basic education and teacher training, based on theoretical frameworks that recognize the importance of connecting academic and school knowledge. Inspired by the concepts of common spaces and third spaces, these initiatives seek to promote educational practices in which universities and schools participate as co-participants in the construction of teaching knowledge. The initiatives aim to directly impact students, teachers, school administrators, and public education policies, involving teaching, research, and extension programs, undergraduate programs, state and municipal education councils and departments, schools, and other members of the school community.
