The UFMG Journal aims to address themes from a transdisciplinary perspective, encompassing contemporary academic, social, and cultural aspects. Created in 1929 under the name Revista da UFMG, it ran periodically in print until 1969. After that, its publication was interrupted for 43 years. It was relaunched in 2012 with a biannual periodicity and became one of the activities of the Institute for Advanced Transdisciplinary Studies (IEAT) at UFMG in 2020, with a quarterly periodicity and a digital version hosted on the UFMG Journals Portal. In 2023, the Journal began to operate in a continuous flow with structured sections. In this new format (continuous flow), each annual volume features a highlighted theme in the Dossier section, which publishes exclusively scientific articles. There are also academic, cultural and artistic sections that present diverse textual genres and artistic digital objects that reflect or add to the approaches present in the Thematic Dossier.

Its Qualis – CAPES classification (2017-2020): A4 – Interdisciplinary. Electronic ISSN: 2965-6931 Printed ISSN: 2316-770X
