The event discussed the importance of drug response genetics in terms of the diversity of native and mixed-race populations in Latin America and the experience of the Ibero-American Pharmacogenetic Network as a producer of knowledge and its transfer to health systems. Also discussed was international scientific cooperation involving countries such as Spain, Mexico, Cuba, Brazil and others in Latin America, and the recent experience of the MedeA project (Medicina Personalizada Aplicada-MedeA), a Personalized Medicine initiative implemented in Estremadura (Spain) as experience of innovation between academia, the public health system and the private sector.

The event featured the presentation of Professor Adrián Llerena Ruiz from the University of Extremadura (Spain) as a speaker. Professor Eduardo Tarazona Santos, from the Institute of Biological Sciences at UFMG and IEAT resident, and Professor Fernanda Rodrigues Soares from the Federal University of Triângulo Mineiro (UFTM) also participated in the initiative.
