Long-term international chairs at institutes of advanced studies play a fundamental role in global academic collaboration and in the advancement of knowledge and science. Their main objective is to consolidate and expand innovative, inter- and transdisciplinary research, exploring topics with high potential for integration between researchers from different areas of knowledge that can support public policies in strategic areas and present solutions capable of directly impacting real problems in society.

Chairs are prominent positions awarded to internationally renowned academics with a history of significant achievements in their areas of specialization and extensive experience in inter- and transdisciplinary research. These positions are established for a minimum period of one year, around the titular professor, but also include postdoctoral researchers and undergraduate students, through scientific initiation scholarships. This structure creates the conditions for the establishment of a transdisciplinary research ecosystem with researchers from the most varied areas of training and different levels of education.

FUNDEP “MAGDA SOARES” BASIC EDUCATION CHAIR

The FUNDEP “Magda Soares” Basic Education Chair aims to encourage advanced and transdisciplinary research around the topic of basic education with the aim of directly benefiting students, teachers, school managers and public educational policies. The initiative is financed by the UFMG Support Foundation (FUNDEP).

IEAT DARCY RIBEIRO CHAIR: SOVEREIGNTY, EDUCATION AND POLITICS

The IEAT Darcy Ribeiro Chair, dedicated to the theme of Sovereignty, Education and Politics, with the support of Federal Deputy Patrus Ananias, pays tribute to Darcy Ribeiro for his decisive contributions in the areas of anthropology, education and Brazilian culture and, as founder of the University of Brasília, where a new conception of interdisciplinary knowledge emerged.
