  • Capes-PrInt

PrInt, an acronym for Program for Institutional Internationalization, is a project designed by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) to promote the design, implementation and strengthening of strategic plans for internationalization in 36 higher education institutions in Brazil selected to participate in the project.

PrInt also seeks to promote the development of international research networks with a view to enhancing academic output at graduate level. Further aims are fostering participating faculty and student missions outside Brazil, as well as contributing to making participating graduate programs internationally renowned research centers.

Within a five-year-span, from 2019 to 2023, PrInt will welcome submissions by higher education institutions and research institutes which engage four graduate programs (two of them being doctoral programs) recommended by CAPES in its 2013 triennial evaluation and in its 2017 quadrennial evaluation.

  • PrInt at UFMG

Capes/PrInt at UFMG aims at developing an internationalization-oriented culture based on a cross-cutting approach allowing participating groups to carry out research targeting strategic themes of interdisciplinary nature.
Participating graduate programs are envisaged to become internationally renowned excellence centers in the medium run with impact on higher knowledge production and greater international recognition of UFMG as a leading university.

Capes/PrInt at UFMG is based on a matrix where four thematic areas displayed as columns are intersected by rows displaying themes arising from the UFMG research groups' consolidated careers. Inspired by contemporary challenges, the four thematic areas are: Sustainability, Risk Management, and Governance; New Technologies and Knowledge Frontiers; Health and Wellbeing; and Human Rights. This innovative, interdisciplinary design aims to support research initiatives aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Our matrix has yielded 28 projects related to the four general thematic areas.
