António Nóvoa is honorary Rector of the University of Lisbon, having been Rector between 2006 and 2013. Full Professor at the Institute of Education and holder of the UNESCO Chair – Futures of Education. PhD in Educational Sciences from the University of Geneva (1986). PhD in History from the University of Paris IV-Sorbonne (2006). Doctor Honoris Causa from six Brazilian and Portuguese universities, namely the University of Brasilia, the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and the University of São Paulo. Ambassador of Portugal to UNESCO (2018-2021) and coordinator of the writing group for the report Reimagining our futures together: A new social contract for education. Author in the areas of History of Education, Comparative Education, the Teaching Profession and Teacher Training.
