Professor Stafford is chair of the Department of Sociology at the University of Texas (USA), and author of numerous articles, book chapters and books in the areas of juvenile delinquency, homicide, victimization and social control. He has been noted in the discussion about the interfaces of the phenomenon of violence, a worrying phenomenon today. The professor’s main axes of research are explanatory theories about homicide and interpersonal violence, actions and self-control policies and their implications for delinquency and the treatment of sexual assault offenders. He is currently conducting longitudinal research on sexual offenders in order to improve tools for identifying the risk of criminal recidivism. This type of study is fundamental from the point of view of the elaboration of public policies aimed at the treatment of aggressors. Mark Stafford also conducts research on the impact of self-control on individuals in order to prevent violence.
