Armando Malheiro is Full Professor at the Department of Communication and Information Sciences at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto. He holds a degree in History from the University of Porto and in Philosophy from the Catholic University of Portugal and a postgraduate degree in Librarianship and Archival Science from the University of Coimbra and a PhD in Contemporary History of Portugal from the University of Minho.

He acts as a visiting professor and as a researcher-collaborator in scientific projects and master’s, doctoral and postdoctoral programs in several Brazilian universities, including the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), the State University of Goiás (UEG), the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), the University of São Paulo (USP) and the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), integrating, in the latter, interdisciplinary research group on information and imagery. He participates as a member of thesis and dissertation boards of Masters and Doctorate Programs in Portuguese universities (University of Coimbra, University of Minho, University of Évora and Catholic University of Portugal), Spanish and Brazilian. In more than twenty years dedicated to teaching, research and extension, he has already published numerous scientific articles for national and foreign journals and several books. He participates as a speaker in national and international Congresses discussing the directions of the Social and Human Sciences.
