Denis Laborde is director of studies at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris, occupying the chair of Social Anthropology and Ethnology. He is responsible for structuring an international research network on music festivals around the world. His studies opened a transdisciplinary dialogue with the various areas of research in Human and Social Sciences that have music as their research object. His main research topics are: anthropology of music; ethnology of contemporary musical creation; musical ontologies and theories of improvisation; musical creation, World Music and cultural diversity; urban planning strategies for institutions focused on the production and dissemination of music in urban spaces
