François Sauvagnat is a professor at the Department of Psychology at the Université de Rennes II (France) and Director of Research at the University of Paris VII. Master in Classic Literature, Linguistics and Clinical Psychology, Sauvagnat has worked since the late 1970s as a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst, both in mental health institutions and in private practice. He is a member of the Société Française de Psychologie (French Psychological Society), the World Association of Psychoanalysis (AMP), the École de la Cause Freudienne (France and Belgium), the Kliniske Lacanske Gruppe (Denmark), the Association of European Psychiatrists (Association of European Psychiatrists) and belongs to the editorial board of the Journal of Lacanian Studies (Journal of Lacanian Studies), Clinic / Culture, Clinical Psychology and Language and Unconscious. His publications include 10 books and over 330 articles in 7 languages. His fields of interest are: psychotherapy of psychoses, child psychiatry, the relationship between psychoanalysis and neuroscience, the relationship between psychoanalysis and linguistics, criminology, sexual identity and aesthetics. He mainly developed a comparative panorama, studying the mutual influences between the various psychoanalytic tendencies and their relations with psychiatry.
