Dr. Berta Queija holds a degree in Geography and History from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a PhD in American History from the same institution. She is currently head of the Department of Modern and Colonial American History at the School of Hispano-American Studies (EEHA), and a researcher at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), Seville, Spain.
