Fred Pearce is a UK-based freelance journalist and author specializing in environmental science coverage. For the past 30 years he has served as an environmental consultant to the British weekly magazine New Scientist. His many books include The New Wild (listed as one of the books of the year by the Economist in 2015) and When The Rivers Run Dry (listed among the 50 best environmental books of all time by Cambridge University’s Sustainable Leadership Programme). He has received the titles of UK Environmental Journalist of the Year and Journalist of the Year by CGIAR Agricultural Research, and won the British Science Writers Association’s lifetime achievement award in science journalism.
