Currently, the research activities of Prof. José Fernando Ferreira Mendes focus essentially on the study of network properties. In this type of study, analytical techniques have mostly been used, resorting in some cases to simulation methods. The main objective is to understand both for equilibrium and non-equilibrium networks their structural and topological properties. In addition, he has been involved in studies of epitaxial growth, through the deposition of particles on surfaces, using Monte Carlo simulation techniques. Lastly, he has also carried out research in granular media, namely in sand pile and rotating drum systems.
