Paul Claval is one of the greatest geographers of our time. Alongside geographer Milton Santos, he won the Vautrin Lud prize in 1996, equivalent to the Nobel Prize. He has published books in several languages, such as “Space and Power”, “Cultural Geography”, “Principles of Social Geography”, “Economic Geography” and “The logic of cities”.

His works have been a world reference in the study of geography and, particularly in Brazil, have contributed to the discussion of culture and the dissemination of understanding of the most diverse forms of manifestations and celebrations, such as, for example, the boi-bumbá, indigenous peoples , riverside people, rubber tappers, etc., in order to allow a discussion of local problems in a period of globalization.
