The recent popularization of Generative Artificial Intelligence models and their applications (such as ChatGPT) has rekindled debates about the potential, risks, and ethical limits of Artificial Intelligence. In this process, technological acceleration, economic interests, and sociotechnical imaginaries combine and bring new challenges to research and the University.

To delve deeper into this discussion, IEAT will host the Transdisciplinary Meeting “Transdisciplinary Challenges in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” on October 24th. The event will take place at the UFMG Rectory Auditorium at 2:00 p.m.

Registrations must be made through the Gestão de Eventos da UFMG system. Certificates will be issued.

The debate will feature Professors Wagner Meira from the Department of Computer Science, Gilson Iannini from the Department of Psychology, and Carlos d’Andréa from the Department of Social Communication. In this roundtable, the guests will reflect on topics such as the intersections between psychoanalysis and Artificial Intelligence (can machines learn to dream?), the use of general-purpose technologies to discriminate or empower citizens, and the socio-environmental implications of “technosolutions” based on Artificial Intelligence.

Promoted by IEAT, the Meeting is part of UFMG’s Knowledge Week, which will take place from October 23rd to 27th, with the theme of Sustainable Development and Democracy in the era of Artificial Intelligence.
