Artificial intelligence has been increasingly present in human life, helping people with simple tasks, such as searching for products or services on the Internet, defining the best route for a trip based on real-time traffic data or improving the performance of robots that perform human tasks. However, the use of artificial intelligence has been the subject of controversy, mainly due to the fear that decisions made by intelligent technologies could cause problems in the economy, in the labor market and in individual rights, with an impact on various spheres of social life.

To reflect on the topic, on October 18, the IEAT will promote the Transdisciplinary Meeting Artificial Intelligence and its social impact. The event will take place in the Auditorium of the Rectory at UFMG, at 2 pm. Registration for the activity can be made on the Sistema Gestão de Eventos website. Anyone who registers and signs the attendance list will be entitled to a certificate.

Professors Leonardo Netto Parentoni from the Department of Law and Civil and Commercial Procedure at the Faculty of Law, Hani Camille Yehia from the Department of Electronic Engineering at the School of Engineering and Carlos D’Andrea from the Department of Social Communication at the Faculty of Philosophy and Sciences Humanities at UFMG participate in the debate.

Promoted by IEAT, the Transdisciplinary Meeting Artificial Intelligence and its social impact is part of the Semana de Conhecimento da UFMG. The event’s theme is a preview of the UFMG Seminar Series Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence, which is scheduled to take place from November 8 to 11 at UFMG.
